Kartell attends the Stockholm Furniture & Light fair from 5th to 9th February 2019 with a special setup that combines the company’s new, technologically innovative masterpieces with images of great classical Italian paintings in order to highlight and narrate the technology and design of its new products. The booth is divided into 8 display spaces featuring staged sets that propose an original visual interplay between the shapes, materials and colours of the individual products, which mix easily with their dedicated painting in a relationship of coevolution that links the artistic masterpieces with their design counterparts. The main set is dedicated to the new Woody collection by Philippe Starck, where today continuous technological research allows Kartell to use wood in an absolutely innovative way: thanks to a special patent, the wood is machined with a mould that can extend the limit of curvature of the panel and create the frame of the chair with sinuous curves. While remaining true to its own DNA, Kartell explores new technologies and new materials, expanding its product range and offering proposals that respond to the desire and need for traditional materials like wood, worked however in a new and contemporary way. Another set features Matrix by Tokujin Yoshioka, the brand new armchair made with a mould devised to recreate a three-dimensional grid, criss-crossing and overlapping and where, thanks to the special injection technology, the layers of polycarbonate create a structure that simulates a metal mesh. The other sets accommodate the latest Cara, Catwalk and Venice chairs by Philippe Starck, the new Betty sofa by Piero Lissoni, the Bellissima, Mini Kabuki, Kabuki and Space lamps which join the ranks of other items now considered contemporary design classics.
