Kartell approaches the world of cinema for the first time by participating in the creation of the short film "Rasti", in collaboration with OffiCine-IED. The production unites young talents and masters of cinema under the artistic direction of director Silvio Soldini, the result is a short film full of magic, which explores the theme of light as a form of language.



The theme of light, always dear to Kartell, becomes almost the protagonist of the short, showing a scenography full of products such as the Aledin lamp designed by A. Meda, the Bourgie and the Taj by F.Laviani. The play of light and shadow becomes the key that triggers the emotional plot of the short, which allows us to immediately come into contact with the family dynamics of the protagonists of the short.

It is a delicate moment of transition: Anna is growing up, she is no longer a small child and her father (Lino Guanciale), with the loving complicity of his partner (Eleonora Giovanardi), is concerned about finding a way to communicate with her. The clumsy attempt to stubbornly cling to a secret and magical childhood ritual drags the father and a young hotel caretaker (Paola Buratto) into an unusual nocturnal adventure, illuminated by a tender hope.

We can say that “Rasti” is a character who embodies light, with whom everyone would like to dialogue, an imaginary friend who in this case is made of a mix of lamps that the directors have made truly perfect for the role of a fantasy silhouette. Thus light together with our lamps become a tool for communicating and become protagonists in an original way.

A fairy tale narrated by the voice of Adriano Giannini which transmits a phantasmagoria of lights and shadows, a morse code in which sweet illusions and nostalgia of a parent suspended between the desire to preserve the wonder of childhood alternate. Backlit, scenography and script poetically enhance the inspiration derived from the shapes, colors and warmth of Kartell's lamps and furnishings, turning the light on another dialogue: the profound and intimate one between cinema and design.
